My experience

Public speaking has always made me nervous, so having to present in my public speaking class was something I thought about a lot before the actual day. Even though this class is meant to help students become more comfortable speaking in front of others, it still feels stressful to stand up in front of a room and talk. I usually worry about how I sound, whether I am speaking clearly, and if I will forget something important while presenting.

For this assignment, I was placed in group 1, which meant we had to present first. Going first made me more nervous than usual because there was no time to watch other groups or get a sense of how the presentations would go. I felt like all the attention was on us, and that added pressure. I would have preferred going later, but since that was not an option, I focused on preparing and practicing my part.

Our assignment was to summarize several chapters. The material itself was not too difficult, but explaining it out loud in a clear and organized way felt challenging. I spent time reviewing the chapters and going over my notes so I would feel more prepared. Even with preparation, I still felt nervous before presenting. I worried about talking too fast, missing key points, or getting distracted while speaking.

What really helped throughout this project was the group I was in. I had an amazing group that put a lot of effort into both the project and the presentation. Everyone showed up prepared and took the assignment seriously. Each group member understood their role and contributed equally. We communicated well and made sure everyone was comfortable with their part of the presentation. Having a group that was organized and motivated made the whole process easier.

Because my group put so much work into the project, I felt more confident going into the presentation. Knowing that everyone understood the material and had practiced their sections helped reduce my stress. During the presentation, we supported each other and stayed focused. It felt like a team effort instead of feeling like all the pressure was on one person. That made a big difference for me.

When it was my turn to speak, I was still nervous, but I stayed calm and focused on what I needed to say. I made sure to cover the main ideas from the chapters and speak clearly. Seeing my group members do well before and after me helped me feel more comfortable. Overall, we had a good presentation. We stayed organized, explained the chapters clearly, and worked well together as a group.

After we finished presenting, I felt relieved. Going first was uncomfortable, but it also felt good to get it over with early. I realized that the experience was not as bad as I had expected. Most people were focused on their own presentations, and the class environment felt supportive. I also felt proud of my group for the work we put into the project.

This presentation showed me how important it is to have a strong group when working on assignments like this. Having supportive and hardworking group members made the experience much less stressful. Even though public speaking still makes me nervous, this experience helped me feel more confident. It showed me that with preparation, teamwork, and effort, a presentation can go well even when it feels intimidating at first.
