The chapter presentations on public speaking turned out to be one of the most helpful parts of this class. Instead of just reading the textbook and trying to picture how the skills worked, we actually saw them in real situations through our classmates. Every presentation had a new focus and a different style. This kept the class interesting and made the lessons easier to understand. It showed me that public speaking is not only about knowing information, but also about how you deliver it, how confident you appear, and how well you connect with your audience.       I was in Group 1, and I really appreciated working with my team. Everyone had different strengths, and we did a good job supporting one another. We divided the work fairly and made sure each person knew their part. This helped lower some of the stress because no one felt like they had to do everything alone. We communicated well and tried to make sure our presentation was organized and clear...

Up and Down of a Project In my past experience, I have done similar projects where I teach my class. I taught my class how to make portfolios in one class and in another I taught them what nature vs nurture is. Now with this project I taught my class what to look for in their audience, how to research their audience, and how to use that information in a speech. However, despite the previous experience I have had with presentations where I taught my classes. This would have been my first presentation in a couple of years. So, it felt like I was relearning how to do a presentation all over again. This past presentation was interesting and to do a presentation that teaches the class was challenging. Major Challenges While this was a nice project to do, there were many challenges that came along with making this project. One of those challenges was communication. Given that we are online, it's harder to communicate with my classmates in order to do the project, with the time of waiting...

My experience

Public speaking has always made me nervous, so having to present in my public speaking class was something I thought about a lot before the actual day. Even though this class is meant to help students become more comfortable speaking in front of others, it still feels stressful to stand up in front of a room and talk. I usually worry about how I sound, whether I am speaking clearly, and if I will forget something important while presenting.      For this assignment, I was placed in group 1, which meant we had to present first. Going first made me more nervous than usual because there was no time to watch other groups or get a sense of how the presentations would go. I felt like all the attention was on us, and that added pressure. I would have preferred going later, but since that was not an option, I focused on preparing and practicing my part.      Our assignment was to summarize several chapters. The material itself was not too diffi...

Peer Review Fiorella De La Hoz

The chapter presentations on public speaking were actually a really helpful experience. Instead of just reading the chapters and trying to imagine how the concepts work, we got to see them in action through our classmates. Every group was assigned a different chapter, which made each presentation feel a little different and kept things interesting. Overall, the presentations showed how public speaking is not just about memorizing information, but about delivery, confidence, and connecting with your audience.  Each group focused on different parts of public speaking, such as managing nervousness, understanding your audience, listening, organizing your speech , and using body language. Seeing these ideas and how each person interprets them, while also seeing how they present themselves was a great way to understand better on what to do during a public speaking scenario. Some groups explainers their chapters in a very straight forward way, while others used examples, video,...

MY EXPERIENCE Going into this public speaking project, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. Public speaking has always been something I felt kind of neutral about. It's not my favorite thing in the world, but not my biggest fear either. I knew this project would involve both presenting and watching a lot of other presentations, and I wasn’t sure whether I would enjoy that part or just get bored halfway through. Looking back now, I can say that the project surprised me in a good way. While not every presentation was equally engaging, the experience overall helped me understand public speaking on a deeper level and made me more aware of my own strengths and weaknesses as a speaker. One thing I appreciated about the presentations was how different everyone’s styles were. Even when people were working with similar topics or formats, no two presentations felt exactly the same. Some people were more confident and energetic, while others were quieter but very thoughtful in how they expl...

Chapters 9,10,11, and 12// Adrienne Anton

Adrienne Anton  SPC 2608-2263-8261 Sherri Sinkoff  2-5-2026                                                                   Review on Presentation      The presentation covering Chapter 9,10,11, and 12 from The Evolution of Public Speaking  was honestly more helpful than I expected. Instead of just repeating the text book, they had  a good way of actually explaining the main ideas and it made sense. The overall flow of the  presentation made it easy to understand and follow. It never felt overwhelming or boring.       Chapter 9, which mostly focused on audience analysis, was explained very well. The  presenter did a good job of showing why the audience actually matters and isn't something  that you do j...
