The Change Maker That Inspired Me

 Martin Luther King Jr.


One popular changemaker who has inspired me is Martin Luther King Jr.. His life and actions showed me what it means to stand up for what is right, even when it is hard. He is not just someone we learn about in history, but someone whose message still matters today and affects how I think about fairness and equality.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a leader in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. He worked to end segregation and unfair treatment of Black Americans. What inspires me the most is the way he fought for change. Instead of using violence, he believed in peaceful protest. Even when people treated him badly, he stayed calm and strong. This shows me that you do not have to be aggressive to make a difference. You can stay kind and still be powerful.

One of the most important moments in his life was the March on Washington, where he gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. In this speech, he talked about a future where people are judged by who they are, not by the color of their skin. This idea really inspires me because it reminds me to treat everyone equally and with respect.

What also inspires me about Martin Luther King Jr. is his bravery. He knew that speaking out could put him in danger, but he still continued. He was arrested and threatened many times, but he never gave up. This makes me think about my own life and reminds me to be strong when I face challenges, even if they seem scary.

Another reason he inspires me is because he brought people together. He helped many people work toward the same goal of equality. This shows me that change is not something you do alone. It takes teamwork, understanding, and communication. If I want to make a difference, I need to be able to work with others and listen to different opinions.

He also makes me believe that change is possible. At that time, many people thought things would never change, but he proved them wrong. Because of his hard work and determination, new laws were passed that helped make things more equal. This teaches me that even when something feels impossible, it can still happen if people keep trying.

On a personal level, Martin Luther King Jr. inspires me to be a better person. I want to stand up for others, speak out when something is wrong, and try to make a positive difference. His life shows that one person can have a big impact, and that motivates me to take my actions more seriously.

He also teaches the importance of kindness. Even when people were mean to him, he chose to respond with peace and understanding. That is not easy, but it is something I want to work on in my own life.

In conclusion, Martin Luther King Jr. inspires me because of his courage, kindness, and leadership. He showed that you can fight for what is right in a peaceful way and still create real change. His message continues to inspire me to be strong, treat others fairly, and try to make the world a better place.

My experience

    Public speaking has always made me nervous, so having to present in my public speaking class was something I thought about a lot before the actual day. Even though this class is meant to help students become more comfortable speaking in front of others, it still feels stressful to stand up in front of a room and talk.
